Christmas Electric
The 2025 Christmas Tram, which ran between December 2, 2025, and January 6, 2026, had the theme "Building Bridges," inspired by the Observatory project, developed since 2024 around the construction of the Ferreirinha Bridge. Based on reflection on physical and metaphorical bridges, the tram presented itself as a vehicle for dialogue, hope, and connection in a global context marked by fragmentation.
Conceived as a participatory project, the Christmas Tram involved institutional partners, artists, STCP employees, and community members, culminating in an artistic intervention on tram 131, led by artist Eva Halfers. Throughout November, the tram was prepared and painted in several collaborative work sessions, following a workshop reflecting on the theme.
During its service period, the tram ran along lines 1 and 18, integrating cultural programming and Christmas festivities. This initiative anticipated the theme of International Museum Day 2026, affirming the tram as a living symbol of connection, encounter, and collective creation.
