The meanings of freedom
A play that tells the story of a girl named Abril, who was born at the beginning of the national dictatorship. She had hair as red as carnations, a face sprinkled with freckles like bullets, and a foot as heavy as her father's marching. From childhood, Abril wondered about the reason for her name. The north wind that made her skin crawl, the red letters she wrote in secret, the smell and taste of the fish her mother bought at the market, and the sound of the trams flying over the tracks. She felt freedom, but she didn't know how to speak of it, until the day she understood the true meaning of her name.
