The Electric Car Museum, housed in the historic Massarelos Thermal Power Plant, offers a unique setting for events. With its striking industrial aesthetic, this space is a living testament to early 20th-century industrial architecture, providing a unique backdrop where history and modernity meet.
The building's imposing presence, combined with its prime location by the Douro River, gives it an emblematic character, making it the ideal venue for corporate, cultural, or social events. Machine Room – A Unique Space for Events
The iconic Machine Room preserves an impressive collection of original equipment used for the production, transformation, and distribution of energy. This authentic and historically rich setting lends a unique atmosphere to the events held here, providing a perfect backdrop for unforgettable moments and photographs.
With capacity for up to 400 people, the Machine Room adapts to different types of events, from conferences and gala dinners to more social gatherings. During the day, natural light highlights the industrial details of the space, while at night, a creative lighting system allows for the creation of personalized environments, making each event truly special.
Therefore, integrated into the exhibition dedicated to the Massarelos Thermal Power Plant, this space can be used in conjunction with the Museum's normal activities or exclusively.
Mini Spaceship
The Mini Nave is a welcoming and multifaceted space, perfect for smaller events, workshops, or conferences. Spanning approximately 100m², this glass-enclosed area stands out for its simple architecture, providing a unique atmosphere within the larger hall that houses the electric car exhibition.
Upon entering the main nave, the Mini Spaceship reveals itself as a miniature version of the surrounding space, creating a captivating visual effect. Despite its reserved configuration, the glass structure allows for a direct connection with the exhibition, providing participants with an immersive experience.
With a capacity to accommodate up to 80 people standing, or 60 in auditorium seating, the Mini Nave adapts to different event formats, benefiting from a privileged location within the Museum's exhibition space. Its transparency and integration into the industrial environment give it a special character, making any event even more inspiring for those who participate.

Step 4
Coordinate with the museum team regarding setup, dismantling, and event operations.
The closer the relationship with the museum team and the more timely the event preparation, the better the conditions will be for its success.

Electric Vehicle Rental
The Electric Car Museum has a fleet of electric cars from the 1920s/1930s, fully restored to their original condition, which it currently rents for rides on the Marginal Line and the Restauração Line. Whether for special moments with family and friends, or for tourist or work groups, a tram ride provides a great experience that blends the past and the present into a single moment.
For those looking to take special tours to relive the history of the city of Porto, the Marginal Line, the famous and pioneering Line 1, which since its inauguration on May 15, 1872, has been one of the most beautiful and charismatic routes in the city of Porto, is the ideal choice.
The Restoration Line, or Line 18, is also one of the most memorable routes in the city of Porto and undoubtedly one of the most representative for the history of the electric tram. It was on this street that, in September 1895, the city of Porto saw the first electric tram circulate.
Finally, Line 22 – the Batalha Line – runs through the most emblematic streets of downtown Porto, where you can see the traditional shops, cafes, and bourgeois architecture from the beginning of the 20th century. With a circular route between Carmo and Batalha/Guindais, the 22 crosses some of the city's most iconic areas, such as Rua dos Clérigos, Praça da Liberdade, Praça da Batalha, Rua de Santa Catarina, and Rua de Ceuta.
How do I rent an electric car?
Step 1
Availability request
Send your request to museu@stcp.pt, indicating details such as the organizing entity, schedules, route, number of participants, and interest in other services.
Step 2
Pre-booking and proposal
You will receive a reply confirming availability. Once accepted, you can proceed with the pre-booking, adjusting all details via email.
We will send you the budget proposal, as well as the payment and cancellation terms.
Step 3
Reservation confirmation
After you accept the quote, we will contact you one week before the scheduled date for confirmation. You will then receive the final quote and a copy of the invoice.
The original document will be sent via CTT (Portuguese postal service). This document contains the necessary information to make the payment.
Step 4
Enjoy the service
On the scheduled day and time, simply show up at the agreed location and make the most of this.
